About Dr. McFarlane
Dr. Ginny McFarlane is a family physician whose practice is dedicated to psychotherapy. Since 1988 she has worked with individuals and groups combining techniques learned from General Psychiatry and Family Medicine, Gestalt Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Meditation and Mindful Self-Compassion. Her office, The Mindful Mood Centre, is located in the Beach neighbourhood of Toronto.
Currently Dr McFarlane does group therapy teaching mindfulness and self-compassion skills for patients with Mood and Anxiety Disorders. She also runs a weekly Mood Support Group, and monthly retreats in mindfulness or self-compassion practices.
Dr. McFarlane has taught psychotherapy, mindfulness and self-compassion courses to medical students and physicians through the Medical Psychotherapy Association, The Scarborough Hospital, and The University of Toronto. She is a teacher, host and member of the planning committee for the Five Weekend program in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Dr. McFarlane is a graduate of the University of Toronto (BSc), McMaster University (MD and CCFP); she has trained primarily in Gestalt Therapy, CBT, mindfulness meditation and self-compassion. She is a Trained Teacher in Mindful Self-Compassion.
